A project that explores DIY culture as a mode of artistic and collective empowerment. The term ‘DIY’ stands for ‘do it yourself’ and refers to much more than just pragmatic repair work. It describes the act of not only doing things yourself, but also of actively shaping your own environment beyond institutional and economic constraints, in artistic, subcultural, and everyday contexts. It is a practice of appropriation and self-empowerment, and a way to build your own world. The exhibition ‘Doing Everything Wrong and Making It All Right!‘ brings together art works and artistic projects that originate from the world of DIY or tap into life-hacking and do-it-yourself approaches. These include sculptures, installations, works on paper and special formats of self-publishing. During the project’s two-week runtime, workshops will be offered teaching beer brewing, textile upcycling, and fermentation as experimental craft practices.

Contextual workshop programme: please RSVP for participation as spaces are limited: info@supermoist.de

    * Friday, January 16th, 6 – 8 pm, “Fermentation“ with Alexis Goertz from Edible Alchemy
Join for a hands-on exploration of fermentation as both craft and creative practice. Together, we’ll make DIY lacto-fermented pickles, learning how fermentation is an act of co-creation with microbes: intuitive, responsive, and deeply rooted in tradition. Like any art form, fermentation invites observation, experimentation, and trust in the process. Participants will gain not just practical skills, but a new way of seeing food as a living medium.

    * Sunday, January 18th, 5 – 7 pm, “Widersprüche aushalten“ with Ayumi Rahn & Yves Mettler
A cartographic journey through personal and societal contradictions between closeness and distance, reason and emotion, image and text. Drawing on InterViews Issue 18: Connected in Contradictions, the workshop begins with a dialogue and opens a shared space to endure contradictions.

    * Saturday, January 24th, 2 – 8 pm, “Beer Brewing“ with Christian Gläser and Markus Frank
Join Christian and Markus in brewing two beers together and learn everything in the process!

    * Friday, January 30th, 5 – 9 pm, “Stitch and Bitch“ textile upcycling with Nadja Frank
Come and upcycle your old clothes into something new in a hands-on experience with Nadja from Poncho Project. Learn how to creatively mend, stitch and bitch, baby!
